Dartmouth Green Partnerships organised a Midsummer Flower Festival on Saturday 21 –Sunday 22 June, a new event in the Dartmouth calendar.
Royal Avenue Gardens hosted a wide range of family-friendly, environmental and flower-themed activities, music and dance.
We had a stall selling plants and celebrated local garden expert, Iris Webb.
In the Old Market stalls sold plants and flower related crafts.
In St Saviour’s Church there was a flower display on the RHS Growing for Gold theme.
We held an evening with celebrity gardeners at the Flavel on Saturday 21 June when garden expert Anne Swithinbank talked about her Devon garden followed by the RHS’s Bob Sweet on judging at Chelsea and other international events
A Flower Fairy and Ugly Bug Party was held for Under 5s at Townstal Community Centre, organised with the Chiildren’s Centre. Children planted seeds and flowers.
There was a Summer Garden Safari at Seymour Drive with 7 gardens open.
A fundraising Quiz Night was held at cafe Alf Resco – a sell out event which raised £1,000. The winning team was the Potty Gardeners.
A Flower Painting Masterclass – RHS Gold Medallist and botanical illustrator, Rosie Martin hosted a flower painting workshop for both beginners and improvers at Townstal Community Centre.
