RHS Tatton Park Flower Show – Dartmouth wins Bronze
The floral replica of HMS Britannia won a Bronze flora award at the prestigious event.
The display featuring 5,000 tiny plants was originally devised for the 2013 celebrations of the 150th anniversary of HMS Britannia, the vessel on which naval officers trained in the River Dart from 1863 before the Naval College was built. The RHS was so impressed with the display in Royal Avenue Gardens in 2013 that they invited South Hams gardeners to re-create it for Tatton Park with a grant of £2,000. It was the first time Dartmouth had entered for an award at the event. The ship of flowers is now back in Royal Avenue Gardens.
